Oedipus Rex – Rachel Weeping‏

Do you remember the Greek Tragedy Oedipus Rex? As an unwanted infant, Oedipus was abandoned to die without the help an infant needs to survive, especially in the first critical hours of life. Most people realize that the current President believes in a similar form of infanticide by legally mandated neglect for certain infants born, but unwanted. He voted for this a number of times while an Illinois Senator. This is the same man that famously stated that he would not want one of his daughters “punished with a child”.

Recently it made the news when the speaker of the House of Representatives demanded that federal funds must be used to increase the availability of birth control – in order to help stimulate the economy! The brother of the White House Chief of Staff is the President’s medical and health advisor. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel blames the Hippocratic Oath for the “overuse of medical care” for those who are of little benefit to society. He has expressed his view that medical care should not only be available according to personal need, but also in accordance with the determined value of the social value of the individual in need of care. He has written in favor of euthanasia as the elderly become a burden not an asset to society.

The President’s Science Czar, John P. Holdren wrote that once a fetus is born “given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being.” (Emphasis added). Mr. Holdren also has advocated certain types of forced sterilization and forced abortions in order to benefit society. Do these views remind you of the policies of certain European political parties that our fathers fought against in the last century?

Please, I would prefer not to go on. But I ask you do these views reflect yours? The spirit at work here is strikingly similar to the spirit that influenced King Herod in Jesus’ day that caused the fulfillment of the prophecy “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more.” (Matt 2:18)

I ask you, do these views exemplify the American values of Life, Liberty and pursuit of Happiness equally available to all? Do these views exemplify the prayer we pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven?” Yet these views and others like them will shortly be enshrined in law in the United States of America unless you and others awake, and call upon the name of our God. Of course faith without action is barren, so our cries must lead to action. Arise and take action.

Rev 2:4-7 “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place — unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”
